The owners of this small back garden in West London had designed the area themselves a few years ago but now wanted to update it, replacing trees outgrowing the space, and removing a lawn. Two entertaining areas were to be used for either sun or shade dining. The modern feel to the new design was in part achieved by using zig zag beds of white pebbles to break up the all-season textured planting. Plants were a mixture of shrubs and perennials…many of them evergreen and kept within a palette of greens, silvers, whites and dark reds, including a beautiful Acer Bloodgood, and Astillia Silver Sword. The existing patios and pavings were reconfigured to add interest and to widen the main path.
